Photos From Berlin Fashion Fair – 2011

I made it home safe and sound after my trip to the 2011 Berlin Fashion Fair and it was an amazing couple of days. Not much sleep, as you can imagine, but lots of great fashion to take in.

While I plan on posting more of an update once I get a chance to catch up, here are a few great photos from my time in Germany that you may enjoy. More soon…

Yummie Tummie…because sometimes getting in shape isn’t an option

It’s only the middle of January and already we are hearing people lament that their New Year’s resolution to lose weight won’t get off the ground. Of course we all enjoyed the festivities of the holiday season but now trying to shed all the extra pounds is taking forever, right?  Should that stop you from looking great and feeling even better? We don’t think so.

Yummie Tummie High Waisted Slip

Yummie Tummie High Waisted Slip

While you can’t and you won’t lose weight overnight but you can find a friend that can wrap us up to look shapely and beautiful, every day. From a strappy tank top to a high waisted slip, yoga pants to a chiffon tier top, you can find Yummie Tummie shapewear that you’ll want to show off rather than hide!

That’s right – no more having to hide and be uncomfortable in body shaping foundations or layers that pinch, rub or ride. Waiting to wear your hot new red blouse for Valentine’s Day? This camie tank in merlot is so comfortable and sexy you’ll actually want it to peek out!

Who says Sexy can’t be Comfortable?

If you’re like most women, you always want to look at your best. If you’re like most women, you also dread shapewear. The fabrics rub against your skin instead of caressing you. They pinch in all the wrong places as you move. So you grimace even as you’re trying to get into the mood and feel sexy, sensuous or just plain happy. The bumps and lumps you want to camouflage to get a nice slimming effect get compressed and rolled up instead. So does looking shapely and sexy mean you have to be uncomfortable and unhappy? Not with Yummie Tummie.

What makes Yummie Tummie a must have for your fashion wardrobe?

  • It’s the first body shaper garment that is top oriented so you can literally wear it every day either as a foundation or as a layering piece.
  • You don’t have to worry about fabric that compresses and rolls up your bust or tummy. These cotton bust and hip panels will secretly slim you but look like normal outerwear.
  • Even as you stretch, bend and move, the extra long body shapewear gives you the coverage you need to look smooth and sexy, not bumpy or lumpy!
  • You can tuck it under or layer it over, but either way, you don’t have to hide your cami, panty, tank or slip. Being seen makes Yummie Tummie even better.
  • Comfort and confidence is what makes Yummie Tummie a great choice for the special woman that’s you.

So stop fretting about the food and wine you enjoyed these holidays. Slip into Yummie Tummie shapewear that slims, shapes and lifts…not just your body but your spirits as well.

Not sure what to choose? Give us a call at (269) 267-7334 or send an email to customerservice@michelle-en-vogue.com.

All it Takes is a Scarf to Tie Your Fashion Wardrobe Together

“In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.”

Coco Chanel said it all with this famous quote. Fashion is about the bold and the daring. Being creative with fabric, texture and color…and above all, knowing how to accessorize.

If anyone knew how to maximize accessories, especially using a scarf, it was Coco Chanel. Chanel knew that a simple scarf could transform an outfit to reflect a certain mood or feeling.  Whether it’s adding a splash of color to a little black dress or going from day to night in the same suit, a scarf can be a valuable fashion accessory.

Although scarves are still an important component to staying warm during the winter, you don’t have to look like the Michelin Man.  Soft, flowing, buttery fabrics have replaced the old, harsh wool scarf world. Color has replaced drab — celebrities can’t get enough of these uniquely styled designer scarves.

Even traditional fabric like Pashmina can make a real conversation-starter scarf. Take a look at this Alberotanza Skull Scarf sported by stars like Paris Hilton and Naomi Campbell. At Michelle-en-Vogue, you can also choose from a wide range of designer brand scarves like Chelsey and Me & Kashmiere.

Another hot favorite these days is the Love Quotes line. A Love Quotes scarf is the answer to breaking the monotony of an outfit. During the hectic holiday season, you are bound to run into the same party people time and again. You can’t run out and buy multiple outfits for your wardrobe. That’s where adding a Love Quotes scarf comes in handy.

Designers and Customers Fall in Love with Love Quotes Scarves

Designers are welcoming Love Quotes scarves into their lines to enhance their clothing

and add that pop of color. What makes these scarves so special?  In addition to every color in the rainbow, Love Quotes’ warm, gorgeous material hugs the body to provide chic comfort during cold nights on the town.

In fact Love Quotes is a favorite among both celebrities and partygoers. From fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker to the streets of Manhattan and the clubs of Beverly Hills, Love Quotes are in vogue.

One of our customers recently needed something exciting and spicy to complete her outfit and we had “just the thing” she was looking for. She needed it fast, so we overnight shipped a few of our favorite Love Quotes scarves for her to wear to an important holiday event.  Turns out, she even got the boss’ attention who thought it was a great gift idea to buy for his fiancée!

Whether you are looking to spice up your wardrobe or transform your current outfits into something exciting, Michelle-en-Vogue has the perfect scarf for you. Call us today at (269) 267-7334 or simply shop for your new scarf online.

Going Gaga over Deux Lux

When Oprah speaks, we listen. And when Oprah has a giveaway, we know that it’s going to be something special. However, the word, “special” doesn’t even begin to describe this fabulous Deux Lux handbag Oprah gave it away as a gift to all the ladies during her “Live Your Best Life Weekend” for O Magazine’s 10th Anniversary Celebration in May this year.

Literally almost everybody is stopping me and asking me about this handbag I am carrying…at fashion fairs in Germany, in Vancouver at the convention center…just everywhere!

Last August at the Fashion Fair in Las Vegas, the first booth I ran into was…make a guess…yes, indeed, DEUX LUX. The scene was overwhelming. Some buyers from Japan were sitting on the floor with the owner, oohing and aahing over the beautiful sparkling wallets, handbags, clutches, IPad sleeves, etc. They all seemed pretty excited; taking pictures, discussing wildly and at the end of it, placed an order for almost the whole collection!

So did I…see what I brought to our store!

I just could not let go of all these treasures! It was really as if I died and went to Deux Lux heaven. And I’m still here…a princess’s dream come true!

Take a look so you get an idea of why I’m so excited:

Deux Lux Bags—High Fashion; Terrific Price

Why do we love Deux Lux bags? Sure Oprah loves them, but that’s not why. These bags break the traditional notion of a “purse.” It’s truly like carrying functional art; a small reminder that in the middle of a busy, run-of-the-mill day, you have a small piece of beauty by your side.

Deux Lux also uses creative names for each bag to give you that extra special connection with your “snake charmer”, “chubby heart”, “latte decker” or “crystal twiggie”.

So much fun for a price that’s hard to beat!

Lastly, we applaud Deux Lux handbag’s workmanship quality. Mother and daughter designers Sara and Fatemeh Naghedi’s vision of handcrafted bags have created a product rich with luminous textures and unexpected embellishments. Deux Lux is truly a Michelle en-Vogue favorite.

Feel free to browse our Deux Lux bags or call us for more information at 269-267-7334.

Dani Samaniego & Familia

Collection

Since 2001 Dani Samaniego & Familia has been selling high-quality leather goods and accessories. The Ecuadorian designer Dani Samaniego does not only give the collections her name but also provides them with a unique and individual trademark: A fusion of South American vividness and metropolitan design.

Each year, Dani Samaniego creates two collections in the Munich-based studio. Then the elaborate designs are crafted in the family-owned company in Ecuador. Today the bags are sold worldwide.

Design

Elaborate handicraft, casual and elegant cuts as well as especially soft leathers are characteristic of our accessories. And finally, our designs attain perfection by the many practical details (mobile phone pocket, key fobs, adjustable handles and straps) and of course the excellent workmanship.

Material

All the materials we use live up to the highest standards of quality and are exported to Ecuador from Italy, France, Germany and Switzerland.

We only use the finest lamb and calfskin nappa leather from controlled production. In order to generate fashionable reptile looks, the calfskin is embossed in a particular manner. Like this, we avoid the use of leathers or skins of protected animal species.

Handicraft

The designs are realized and crafted by our sewers in a traditional and masterly manner of workmanship. What comes first for us is quality, which is accompanied by social responsibility for our employees. Fair working conditions are imperative for us. This philosophy lives in each and every model that leaves our house.

George Gina & Lucy: The Handbag Revolution Continues!

If you are already familiar with these amazing bags, you’ll probably want to get straight over to the George, Gina & Lucy collection available on michelle-en-vogue.com. Don’t let us stand in your way. Get shopping.

If, however, you have not yet been introduced to George Gina & Lucy… or if you just like to savor the descriptors of a collection of handbags so versatile and fun, so bold and desired, you may want to read a little about the phenomenon that IS this label. So let’s talk about it.

There is no overstating the excitement, the fervor, the absolute frenzy that surrounds a George Gina & Lucy handbag. This handbag has become a fashion must-have for women all over the world. It’s “The Thing” in Germany. Schoolgirls in France post updates to Facebook about their recent acquisitions. And the bags are the rage all over Asia. They are even shown on Gossip Girls. And there are videos on YouTube documenting the infatuation with various new designs.

So the label that was started by 3 friends in a quiet village near Frankfurt, Germany in 2004, has now produced a full-blown revolution in handbags, a GGL craziness reaching the world over. That’s it, folks. This is the accessory It-Label you want to own, and the handbags seen on the shoulders of Fergie, Hillary Duff, Teri Hatcher, Kristen Bell, and Joanna Garcia.

So what makes a GGL bag so sought after, so desired? It could be the playful sophistication or the melding of fun and functional. It could have something to do with the innovative use of zippers and compartments, or the surprising combination of colors and textures: from versatile nylon to supple leather. It might be the neoprene ruffle on one bag or the way another bag goes from sport casual by day to unexpectedly elegant at night. It might even be the flash of the gunmetal logo that boldly displays the name, George Gina & Lucy, on some of the bags. Or it might have something to do with that signature lock…

Or maybe it’s the enigmatic nature of the designers themselves. They’ll tell you up front that this little experiment of theirs is “all about the handbags,” that they want to leave a “quiet footprint” wherein their own stories stay in the background and the product is in the foreground. But then they won’t tell you where the name George Gina & Lucy came from. They’ll let people be obsessed with knowing, but they’ll never say, until even that secret has whipped up a little frenzy all its own.

But it could also be the self-admitted kookiness of the designers, too. I mean, who else will tell you that they designed a collection of bags as an homage to Grandma’s tablecloth from the 1950s? Who else will say they want a handbag to give you all of the warm and fuzzies that Grandma’s homemade cookies gave you?

The truth is that each handbag has a personality of its own. And a fabulous name to match. Handbags such as Little Sushi and Chica Go have already made their way into the hearts of those passionate about fashion everywhere.

Whatever it is that speaks to each of us, GGL has brought on a hype of unexpected proportions that has raised this label to full-out cult status. Fashionistas everywhere want these bags. And that brings me to one more point: the fashionista. Some of you know that’s what you are, but some of you may not have fully embraced that fact yet. For those of you who aren’t yet sure, I suggest that GGL is going to bring you into being. Because there is nothing shy about these bags, and if they haven’t already, they are going to bring you into a newfound love for all things colorful and daring. Just try to buy one of these bags and deny the love.

And now for Michelle-en-Vogue’s part: We are thrilled to be a part of the GGL fans. Now it’s your turn to get shopping. Go forth and meet the Duchess of Delirium, the Marquess of Manicure, Her Highness, and Banana Split. Be sure to Catch the Cougar. Go Sexy Strappy. Happy shopping!

Introducing Gabriele Frantzen – The Journey to Michelle-en-Vogue

Gabriele Frantzen Jewelry (visit her website here) made its U.S. debut in September 2009. Made by hand in the USA from genuine Swarovski crystals, Czech glass, vintage beads, nickel-free metals and French silk, these statement pieces adorn the necks, wrists and waists of fashionistas all over the globe.

Gabriele’s designs have been featured in countless publications including German Vogue, InStyle, French Cosmopolitan, Bunte and many others. Fans of the line include Stylist Mia Morgan, Fashion Guru Stacy London, and actress Tiffani Thiessen and all of us at Michelle-en-Vogue are excited to offer several pieces from this amazing line and the following story recaps the journey I took to bring this line to our site.

Gabriele and me in Duesseldorf, July 2010

Back in February of this year I headed to Duesseldorf to attend the CPD. This was my first shopping tour for Michelle-en-Vogue and it was exciting to be back in the German fashion circuit. But since I had not been at the CPD for over ten years, I was a little bit nervous to find the right collections to start with… I kept wondering, “will I still know anybody, colleagues, former customer, or better, will they still know me?”

Boy, what a positive surprise … it could not have been better. After my first day there, it felt like I had never even left. It was great to see all my former friends and colleagues, and the great news is that we connected right away; hugs everywhere. Somewhere down the past 15 years of raising my family, I must have lost a little bit of my former self-confidence in regards to my career, but really, that day restored my confidence in just a couple of hours.

So the next morning after a wonderful diner and lots of wine with a couple of friends, I got up carefully getting myself ready. I cannot remember, when I had ever spent so much time thinking about what to wear, except for my wedding. I rolled up my sleeves and threw myself out there.

After lots of visits in showrooms and lots of talks to the sales managers, I found myself still without placing one order. Why? Because, when I was talking about the idea to launch a website in the U.S. that not only featured America’s most iconic fashion designers, but also wonderful European designers that I know very well, I got many doubtful looks. Many would say “why don t you come back when you have launched your site and then we will think about it.” Not exactly the response I was hoping for. They would also tell me that so many designers tried to get their foot into the U.S. market and have typically failed. While this may have been true, it does not necessarily mean it has to be like that forever, and I was convinced that Michelle-en-Vogue was going to be different.

On my way back to the hotel that night, I decided to stop by a showroom to say hi to a former colleague of mine. What a smart move on my part, as that was the turning point of that whole day! Her name is Michaela, she was wearing Siwy Jeans, Diesel Sneakers, a white Julie Park T-Shirt and a wonderful black jacket from Dolce & Gabbana and a necklace, (a one of a kind) I have never seen anything like that before (and I have seen a lot … believe me ..). So stunning, so unique, so much fun, so wooooooooooow, ) that I was hooked in an instant. (I bet you will be too, just look at that picture…)

I knew I just had to have this for Michelle-en-Vogue. So I asked her, where she bought that necklace… “Oh, a friend of mine, Gabriele Frantzen, is making this jewelry,” she replied. “It is a newly launched jewelry line that already found huge supporters in Germany. Her showroom was just around the corner.” You should have seen me running on my high heels to still make it on time, it was already late in the evening and everybody was about to close down for the day.

Trying to catch my breath, and get myself together, I entered the showroom, introduced my self and my intentions, and we immediately connected not only on the business part, but also we found a great personal connection as well. We ended up placing an order, she told me about her debut back in September 2009 onto the U.S. market, chatting about how to conduct business and what a great perspective her outstanding collection will have in the U.S.

A week later we met in New York for the fashion fair again and I dare say, we are already friends! She helped me set up appointments for collections like Julie Park, Love Quotes, Torn, David Lerner and many more.

While my husband started getting concerned where on earth I was going to store all my jewelry from Gabriele Frantzen (I literally have almost every piece of her collection) and already contacted California Closet to ask for a custom made solution… I cannot wait to see more from her. I truly believe it will soon be a huge hit in Hollywood and all over the U.S. and I am proud to contribute a little part to it.

The great news for Michelle-en-Vogue customers is that we just shot her new collection and it will be on the website pretty soon. Get ready for some more excitement from this amazing designer at Michelle-en-Vogue, where you’ll find the biggest variety of her collection in the U.S.
